Facebook Statuses

Sometimes I don't get it. . .
So I just don't understand how people act on facebook sometimes. I would like to say to some "do you not realize the whole world can find what you are saying right now and use it against you?" I try not to post stuff like that (I probably fail because as the saying goes 'to err is human' and I am very human!!) and it just makes me giggle/feel weird/be annoyed when I see posts like that. Now I'm going to put up some of my favorite from today and also what I think. Because some are just ridiculous. No names will be mentioned!

"can't believe I seriously just got dragged into this shit ."
Then why are you mentioning it? Do you not realize that you're making it worse by talking about it?! And why does everybody need to know. I hate statuses like these because I always feel so out of the loop and even though I dont' really care, I very much dislike not knowing. Am I the only one who feels this way? I hope not!

"Bored to death. Text meh"

Now these aren't that bad. It's the 'text meh' part that got it quoted. Heres my issue: What if. . . I wanna text you but dont' have you number? What if. . .I'm a creeper and decide to text you because you said to and I ask you awkward questions and you wish I wasn't texting you but you asked me to in the first place? What if. . . I'm your mom? o.0 *dramatic music* This isn't a terrible sin or anything, I've just never understood this. Many people do it! If I want people to text me, I'm just going to text them myself! The only time you will see a 'text me' status from me is if I will be offline for an extended period of time and I am letting you know that texting is the way to get in touch with me.

"Hey peoples! If you're friends on here with my father Sam B****** will you please go click the link on his profile to help with his farmville barn raising???"

....advertising for an online game. I just found this one comical more than anything really xD

"Why can't pplz leave us alone and mind their own business he aint cheating on me so stop!! I love *** w/ all my heart and we are happt 2gether!! ♥"
Ok so I don't mind a sappy status every now and then. Or a cute quote or song lyrics and a heart with intials. You know, little things are cute. But stuff like this kinda push my buttons. Cause it's airing dirty laundry on facebook (where it doesnt' belong!!!) and then being gushy. And being gushy all the time is just overkill to me. I saw a comment on a status like this once that said "get a room" and I almost bowed to that person I loved them so much from actually saying what I'm sure everybody is thinking.

Facebook statuses really confuse me sometimes. I'm sure I'm guilty of posting stupid crap like this but not like I remember it. Even when Andrew and I broke up, the two statuses I posed were "...................." and "has never hurt so bad". I was a bit ashamed for them as well....

Anyways, post your fave status updates and the reason why it's your favorite. Also, tell me what you think about this subject. Am I just being too dang anal about it or do I make sense?

Much love and hugs,
Sam

  3. And that is why most of my Facebook status' are quotes. People that know me already know what is going on in my life. It's rare that I put up anything personal. Very rare. Colleges and job recruiters actually DO look at these things. I don't want to jeopardize my career.

  4. Mai you're safe putting up the cruies thing! :p And Jesse, I'm flattered :)*blush*
Abbie, you are totally right! I try not to post too much about my life and when I do it's unimportant stuff really. I know my family basically facebook stalks me so I have to be careful enough already.

  5. I always crack up when people say that their family FB stalks them. It's interesting to know that teens aren't comfortable enough to tell their parents anything and everything and so parents 'stalk' to see what's going on. How different it is in our home.
